  • Original Conan

I just thought I'd note a great new recording of Basil Polidouris's fantastic score for the first Conan - it is put out by Tadlow music which is doing really fine complete new recordings of film music classics with the Symphony of Prague.   This clip does not have the choir which was recorded separately and is also a great ensemble.

  • When I was a child and had no conscious notion of there being an actual symphonic score under the action and dialogue, that supported every film (it was lost on me in the hierarchy back in those days), I remember there were 5 films where the great scoring made me notice it and discern the musical aspect of this synthetic and layered art-form, as well as having me look at the end for the composer's credit in curiosity. This was one of those films. Thanks for the link.
