    Hello lennieh,

    I assume you are using all the latest VSL Software, right?

    Did you try with a higher latency as well?

    The Imperial player is actually a dedicated sample player, which works a bit different from VI PRO. Could also be that the 96 kHz are in the way... what happens if you switch to 44.1?

    Another thought: Maybe you are having a hard time with the fact that we have left the original attack of the upright bass and have not edited it like crazy, which might result in a slower response. You could check that by bouncing a recorded MIDI file and compare how long it takes for the notes to sound.

    Hello again, 

    I´ll have to correct something: 

    I mixed up Bösendorfer Imperial and Vienna Imperial, so you are actually using the same sample player with your upright bass as the Bösendorfer Imperial that you registered.

    Yes I've got the latest version of Vienna Instruments Pro (8008). I'll try with a 44.1Khz session and let you know. I think the delay is too long to be the natural attack unless you count about a quarter of a second resting your hand on the string before plucking it as natural attack :-)

    So it doesn't matter what my buffer size is or what the session sample rate is, I'm getting about 0.2secs of delay on the bass notes. My session has two stereo instrument tracks, each has VI pro as the only plugin. First track has the bosendorfer on it with a single note programmed at timecode 1:00:00. This is routed to an audio track which is record armed. Second track has the bass on it, single note at 1:00:00, similarly routed to it's own audio track. I then record the output and the recorded piano note is bang on the grid line for 1:00:00 - maybe half a millisecond off. The recorded bass note is over 0.2 seconds late. I've replicated this at 44.1Khz with buffer sizes from 64 to 1024

    Do you use legato Performances? If you (accidentally) hit the keyswitch D1, you get "legato with slides crossfade" where the note attack comes somewhat after hitting the key... In this case, hit the keyswitch C1, everything will be fine again.

    Hey Paul,

    is the Original Attack the reason why the VSL libraries always have a delay while using them together with other libraries like East West?

    For example the Appassionata Strings never fit perfectly with Stormdrum, I always have to drag them a little bit before the first note to get them right in time.

    Apparent latency depends on patch. For example if you use a legato patch, there is always the transition material to take into consideration, so the destination note will always sound late. There is nothing that any developer can do about that.

    I have the problem as well with the short staccatos and spiccatos! :(

    Only the percussion samples seem to have zero latency.

    But I guess I have to live with it! :)

    The staccatos have no latency on my system. The Spiccatos are (from memory) Performance Spiccatos, so will have transition material.

    However, please bear in mind that the Appassionata Strings have a much more un-focused sound, and may appear to sound late. if you look at the wave form you will see that the start of the note is on time. It just seems to sound a little late. compare this, for example with the smaller sound of the Orchestral Strings staccato. The wave form is much closer to the perceived sound, as far as timing goes.
