  • [SOLVED] VC_trill_1 and VC_trill_2 went missing

I'm using Solo Strings standard library on a MacPro with OS X 10.6.4, and my VSL instruments are accessed via Vienna Ensemble version 2.

Over a year ago, I created a matrix for each instrument in a string quartet: violin, viola and cello. I mapped twelve patches to each, and used controller 70 to select patches. I'm pretty sure I tested all combinations of twelve patches x three instruments, because I needed to be certain which controller values (0-255) resulted in which patch values (1-100).

Which is why I'm now puzzled that two of the cello patches have disappeared from my system. VC_trill_1 and VC_trill_2 can no longer be found. Their positions in Patch Assign are still there, just like the corresponding patches in the violin and viola which still work fine. But in the cello's case, the Patch Assign slot no longer shows VelLay, RS or AB data.

I have reinstalled the entire VSL library, and run the Directory Manager to rescan, and rebooted. No luck.

    Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello Londoner,

Your Solo Strings I Collection consists of 2 parts, the Standard Library and the Extended Library. Please have a look at this chart to see which iarticulations are included in which library.

You had access to the Extended Library, which is already installed on your harddrive, with the 180 starts demo license that is on your ViennaKey. As soon as it expires, all articulations of the Extended Library (labeled with "L2" in the browser) will not be available anymore.

You can of course purchase the Solo Strings I Extended Library online anytime.

To let you evaluate the Extended Library once again, I have just sent additional demo license activation codes for your Extended Library, so that you can open your old songs. These demo licenses are valid for 30 days / 30 starts, and you can recharge these starts as often as you wish within 30 days (click "Maintenance" in the eLCC Software).

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thank you, Paul. Yes, there was a series of messages some time ago, saying there were NNN application starts left for Solo Strings - Cello L2.

But I find it hard to understand how this should have caused my problem. The Standard Library includes "trills half and whole tone" according to the chart you directed me to. So I don't need the Extended Library.

And the trills remain for the violin and viola. I've just now tested them. Why would the cello be different?

    Hi Londoner,

You are right. There is a Library Update I forgot about, that fixes this trill issue and assigns the trills to the Standard Library.

    Sorry for the confusion!

    Best,

    Paul
