  • free online orchestration text: perhaps of interest

  • This is really generous Alan, I had seen it on northersounds forum and I downloaded already... you are even offering translated versions!... I'll be reading them asap [;)]

btw, I also listened to your music, I really liked your violin concerto, I'd love to listen to the whole piece... I hope you'll put some more music too!

    Regards,

    Iván.

  • Hi Alan! Great to see you online here!

By the way, do you use computers to make music or are you an entirely pencil and paper guy?

  • I had already read this. I thought it was great. Really well done. I would love to read a more in depth version.

  • First of all, thanks for the positive comments. In reply, I usually compose either at the piano or at the computer, but I compose (and teach) the old fashioned way, ie making up themes, developing them, etc..

You may be interested to know I am currently working on an add-on to the orchestration book, specifically on how to improve simulations with MUSICAL knowledge. After all, all the orchestral samples in the world are no use if you don't know how/when to use them, or put the effort into controlling them artistically...

    Best wishes,

    Alan Belkin
