  • Controlling VE Pro faders with external Hardware

Well.. As the title says, is there a way to control the faders in VE Pro with an external controller. For example I have Korg's NanoKontrol where you can program any slider to any type of controller. But what do I have to do in VE to get it to respond? All answers are appreciated! C.

  • VE Pro 5 will be able to map pretty much anything tweakable to an automatable parameter in the master host or a MIDI controller. Currently VE Pro 4 only supports automation of volume, pan and the first 4 send sliders through automatable parameters available from the VE Pro Server Interface plugin. In standalone mode there is no way to automate the VE Pro sliders at this time unfortunately.

  • What's the time estimate on VE Pro 5? I love VE Pro.

Thank you Karel! That's exactly what I need Volume and Pan. I can't seem to find in the manual how to do this... Could you give me some pointers? Thanks!

  • The VE Pro Server Interface plugin has automatable parameters for volume, pan and the first 4 sends (the first 64 channels can be automated). Simply add an automation track in your master host and select the parameter you want to automate from the list. It only works in one direction (master host to VE Pro instance) at the moment, but VE Pro 5 will have full blown touch automation support as well. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks Karel! Unfortunately I've spent the last two days trying to work this out without much success. I didn't want to reply before I had read all the manuals and tried many different experiments. I do understand how to control the volume of each VI Pro, but not the volume fader of VE Pro. When you say create an automation track and select the parameter, which parameter are we talking about? And second, do you know if this is possible in Sibelius? It doesn't matter if it's not, I still work Cubase at the final stage. Thanks again!

  • I'm not sure about Sibelius, but in Cubase it works like automating any other plugin. Check your Cubase manual on how to access automatable parameters of a VST plugin.

  • I'm running Ableton Live 8.2.6 and am having no luck getting Host Automation to work. I click the "Config" button in Ableton, then choose Source(spin a knob), then Destination(Spin knob or touch slider). I am able to automate in realtime and when I move the physical knob, the virtual knob inside VEP 5 moves with it, however, no Host Automation parameters show up in Ableton in the "Event In" or "Pro Server". How do I get host automation to work in Ableton? thx, Ben

  • Are you using the latest version of VE Pro 5?
