Well I had trouble summing my issue up in the thread title, but to elaborate the problem is this: I made a piece performed on keyboard MIDI for piano and using a sustain pedal (long ago), and then (just recently) broke it into pieces for individual string voices in my VSL package. I copied the notes out and thought I discarded the original MIDI files that had the sustain command still showing in them, however when I've gone to add functions that are polyphonic, the string voice plays as if I've got my foot down on an invisible sustain pedal - that is to say, the notes don't stop playing!
Obviously, the notes are the right length, and I've tried exporting and reimporting the MIDI files; I've checked the score editor for ".ped" symbols; I've done the lot, and it keeps playing the same way. More curiously, the only way I can stop it (temporarily) is to open the plug-in interface of an instrument - this works until I open the plug-in (that is to say, the pop-up window) of the next instrument, so it only works for one at a time. This doesn't help me much, but perhaps someone better informed might see some significance in this.
It would be a right pain to completely re-perform/transcribe all the notes at all the right lengths again just because of this, so if anyone is familiar with the problem and has any tips it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading and for any assistance you can give.
