  • [Resolved] Getting Sibelius to recognize a downloaded instrument

Hello, I have downloaded the Upright Bass instrument, but I am having trouble getting it working in Sibelius. When I open Vienna Ensemble alone, the instrument appears properly under the "Matrix Assign" tab as "/G Additionals MATRIX - Files", but it does not appear when I open VE (Service mode) through Sibelius (only the Special Edition instruments are available). I believe I completed the installation process correctly, and I wonder what I may have missed. Any insight anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Hello Popslaw!

    Please check the following things:
Do you have your eLicenser attached?
Does the Upright Bass license appear in your eLicenser Control Center?
Is the hard disk with your Upright Bass content attached?
Is the folder, where your Upright Bass content is located, entered in the Directory Manager?
Please also make sure to use the latest versions of the eLicenser Control Center, Viena Instruments and Vienna Ensemble. They can be downloaded here:

  • Hello Andi, Thank you very much for the prompt reply. Yes, the eLicenser is attached, and the Upright Bass license appears in the eLicenser Control Center. The hard disk where the Upright Bass content is located is attached, and the folder containing the Upright Bass content (folder called "101 Upright" containing files such as Upright01.dat, etc.) is entered in the Directory Manager. I do have the latest versions of the eLicenser Control Center, Vienna Instruments and Vienna Ensemble. Vienna Ensemble does recognize the Upright Bass content when I open the program on its own. However, when VE starts up with Sibelius, it only recognizes the Special Edition instruments, and not the newly installed Upright Bass. Thank you for your time, Brian

  • Hello Brian!

This is really an unusual problem. I have a few more questions for you.
Are you able to load and play the Upright Bass in standalone mode?
Are you able to load and play Special Edition patches with Sibelius?
Which Sibelius version are you using?
Which OS are you working on?

    Best,
    Andi

  • Yes, I am able to load and play the Upright Bass in standalone mode. I am also able to play the Special Edition patches with Sibelius. I am using Sibelius 6.02 on Windows 7. Brian

  • In order to find out if the problem is Sibelius related or VE related, can you try it with another host than Sibelius? By the way. I recommend updating to Sibelius 6.2. There are some playback bugs fixed and the update is free.

Please take a look at the licenses listed on the Preset select menu in your Vienna Instruments player inside VE loaded with Sibelius. Does "DL Upright Bass" appear there?

  • Hmm, I have no idea how, but the problem seems to be solved. After rebooting the computer several times, the Upright Bass appears properly in VE loaded from Sibelius. I didn't actually make any changes since our last few posts, but it is indeed working now. Anyway, thank you very much for your time in looking into my problem. Best regards, Brian

  • Thanks. Good to know, it's working now.

    Best,

    Andi
