  • Multiple instance of Vienna Imperial

I have always noticed that one of my pieces is beyond slow and totally cripples my machine even more than MIR and all other VSL products combined.  I opened it a few moments ago and it took 40 minutes to open.  Once it finally opened, I realized (well actually I always knew it did) it had 8 instances of Vienna Imperial.  I was doing a huge piano piece of many hands and different things at once.  I guess I thought it would be like all the other Vienna Libraries and when I load the instance over and over again it used the same memory, is this not true of Vienna Imperial?  Should I expect it to grow to over 2-3GB per instance x 8 instances = 24GB of RAM for such a project?  Because this is the behavior I am seeing, each instance appears is getting the memory as if it was the first instance.

    Thanks!

  • I will look at the amount of memory left and at the size of the swap file [:O]

  • I don't always remember this being the behavior but it certainly is now.  I am ok with that if that is how it's intended to be.  The way I got around this 40 minute load time was open the project with the vienna key unplugged.  Load one instance of Vienna Imperial at a time in the midi track and optimize the samples.  After I did that for all 8 tracks this project opens in less than 2 minutes ready to play.  It screams now.  I will just have to think about this from now on and when a piano track is done simply optimize the samples for that track.  so glad optimize is an option, it's a life saver (and has been for years with other instruments too)!!
