Beautifully done. I perfer the modern master 1 because it breaths as if real players were performing. The slow rise and fall of volume in the phrases have a mesmerizing effect on the listener, which I think you captured in this performance.

thanks for the compliments.
HSO stands for Halion Symphonic Orchestra, a very good orchestra library made bei Steinberg. I like to use it in combination with VSL for particular purposes, as this can sometimes yield very good results.
The strings used in "modern" masters are orchestral and solo strings of the VSL SE.

I'm still catching up with left-over work after a short vacation, that's why I didn't reply earlier. This is _very, very_ good, not only programming-wise, but also in respect of sound. Especially "Modern Master II" is much to my taste. :-) Congratulations!
( The funny thing is that the "analog" master - while still on a very high quality level! - is the one that sounds most "digital" and EQed for my ears.)

That sounds great. though one purely musical criticism - I have never heard the first long sustain note of the melody crescendo THEN decrescendo before the shorter notes. It was always simply a slow crescendo building up to the shorter notes.
But the performance and audio sound extremely good and prove how huge the effect of a lot of dynamics can be on a virtual performance.

That is funny with the 3rd version, to me it sounds more like "old school" - a bigger string orchestra and slightly saturated sound. I did it mixing the VSL and HSO strings together (using the new 64-bit compatible HSO interface you found for me 😉 (thanks again for that one)), and this mix actually did require more EQ work with the same MIR setup.

Perhaps one day I'll even do an optimized version with a more pronounced decrescendo for the first note 😉.
It's alright. I play a lot a Bach everyday - that's basically all I play these days. This is a not bad interpretation - but I still want to offer someone a cigar every time I hear it.
To be honest I prefer this on a harpsichord (or at a push on the piano). I still have lot trouble with hearing Bach's keyboard works being played on a piano. Doesn't sound right afaic.

Well, that's true, I do have a weakness for the slower side of the tempo spectrum as far as this piece is concerned 😉
Sorry to bother everyone with an email but I HAD to post here. I just came upon this thread while searching to see if the Audiocation EQ was also 64-bit. Anyway, I listened to these demo's. That second "master II" file is outstanding! Really really really oustanding! The sonic quality is just phenominal!
Again, sorry but I had to post. I had no choice, this was just too good not to!
