  • Ensemble GUI doesn't launch in cubase

Hello, I have a client who is using ensemble on a slave machine and a master machine. The master runs cubase 6. Both machines have ensemble pro installed, with their v-keys plugged in and working. All machines are runinng windows in 64 bit, all applications are 64 bit, the only difference here is that the slave machine is windows vista, and the master machine is windows7 pro. I load up the VE server on both machines. I then load cubase 6. I instantiate VEP in cubase on an instrument channel. The server interface opens. I click connect, connect to the IP address of the machine that is the slave machine hosting the plugins, it connects - but the VEP interface doesn't show up after this, in Cubase. I only have the server interface. The GUI launches on the slave machine from the standalone server interface, but this is far from what I need - I need the interface to open in Cubase. Am I missing something here? How do I get the VEP GUI in Cubase so that I can start accessing plugins and such? Thank you.

  • The GUI will only ever open on the machine where the plugs are loaded. Try using remote desktop if you don't want to deal with multiple monitors, keyboards and rodents.

  • Seems confusing to me, then, that the manual states that the GUI doesn't open on the DAW machine. So, I load the plugins in VEpro on the remote machine? I can remote desktop into the slave machine. I just want to make sure I have this setup right, as the manual isn't very clear. Thanks!

  • The manual is correct. The GUI doesn't open on the DAW machine. It opens on the slave machine. Just to avoid confusion the DAW machine is the machine that runs Cubase.
