Hi DG Thanks for your reply, although I'm a more confused now :-) If i buy VE Pro i get the epic orchestra as a free bundle. I was advised by VSL support that i can still access and play the EP bundle via VE Pro but now I'm thinking I'll need to purchase a 'player' in order to play the EP bundle through VE Pro. Sorry to labour the point but if i just buy VE Pro will that alone be sufficient to access and play the EP Bundle? Thanks for your patience

It all depends on what you want to run in VEP. I run everything from one computer and would never go back to a multiple computer setup.

So one good computer is better than running a server with several?
I'm hoping to buy a Mac Pro with 32-48 GB ram, 2 multi-processors, 4 SDDs, if my motorcycle sells. Should this mean I can run everything on one computer? I normally run around 25-40 tracks.

It's a Ducati 1098s, cost m $28.5K. Added about $40K in parts. I want to concentrate on my music, I hope it sells. Need a Mac Pro and more VSL stuff:)

That should be easy. I'm running around 95 Instruments in my usual template.

I have the MacPro 4.1, 8-core with 24GB. I did run another MP quad-core as a master, for a couple of years. I am now working with VE Pro 5 and Cubase on the first machine I mention. There is one project for sure that was so large I had to raise the latency on, which was not the most efficient thing I ever built. If I was going to go full symphonic I would require a slave or slaves. I'm using Cubase under OSX so that is certainly slower than under Windows. I would not expect DGs performance on my system. That said the difference for me is practically negligible. (There are some scenarios where running a slave probably amounted to slowness I'm not experiencing now, although I am not going to produce data or tests to support that.)
