  • Newbie question about installation and plea for advice.

I'm a newbie to Vienna Symphonic library and I've been having installation problems. My engineer and I are having a devil of a time installing the Vienna Special Edition. I may be mistaken, but I suspect that the disks (1 through 4) of the samples may be faulty. But faulty disks are such an exception nowadays that I am wondering what I can be doing wrong. Basically I get part of the way through I disk and a pop up appears which informs me that my computer may be too hot (!?). I am attempting to copy the DVD files over to a temp file on my Mac in order to install the samples from there. That's what the pop-up alert suggests anyway. I find it somewhat revealing that this dialog box alert suggesting that I copy the compressed files to my Mac first was written in the first place. It makes me think that others have experienced this kind of nonsense too. Have you? And if you have had installation issues, please be kind enough to email me to commiserate or suggest possible fixes. I'm now going to attempt to make "bit copies" of the disks. Will it never end? Maybe I should just run out into the street and shoot people. Best wishes, Harry.

  • You haven't really given much in the way of detail about your system. but thee have been problems on certain Macs to do with the DVD drive getting too hot.

I would suggest that you copy the DVD contents to your Mac hard drive and install from there.

  • Thanks very much for the advice. Harry.

  • Hi did you get it working in the end, i have a problem with installation too, but my message say's Cannot compleat installation as File is corrupt, this whole VSL thing seem's to be a lot of stress. never had problems like this before with products costing half the price.

  •  I have never had any install issues with VSL, failing to read a disk is more likely to be a drive issue than the media itself (assuming it hasn't been scratched).

Some (inferior) DVD drives run excessively hot, and a long installation can overheat the disc itself (dual layer types are more prone to this).   If you copy the DVD contents to your hard drive and install from there,  if that works, Then I suggest you buy a new DVD drive.

  • Thanks for your help and time on this, i have also recived this advice from support so i will give it a try, but i have loaded other packages with large file's without a problem on this machine with this DVD drive. Thanks dB

  • Hi just to let you know i did try your advice, however the same thing happend on disc 2 it stopped importing the files and said the disc could not be read, i informed Support about this and now over 48 hours past i still have no reply, must say so far im a very unhappy customer, going back to the retailer to see if i can get a refund, i will let you know the out come. Thanks for your advice and time. dB

  • Hello David,

I have just answered your mails. Really sorry about this delay, your initial mail got lost in our internal communication system.

In any case, I have sent you the links to our Download Manager and the Download File, so that you can download all files you need for installation.

    Hope that works for you.

    Best,

    Paul
