Portamento Control for non-portamento samples - VI Pro/VE Pro/Notion
Is there a setting to control portamento that is happening when key switches are controlling patches? I am using Chamber Strings patches. I have a portamento loaded, but the case in which this is happening is not using that patch. I am using the following patches. 10 VI-6 Sus_Vib and key switching to: 13 VI-6 Sus_Vib-espr There is no reason that I can find that there should be a portamento happening between these two patches. The samples are playing back as if a player is using one finger to play every note even if the patches are not key switched. Also, with other samplers in mind, the control that is often called legato that triggers how much polyphony to generate, being none in the legato case, is what I am looking for to turn off. I don't want portamento happening between every sustain note in my score. I am not sending any other CC Data to Vienna from Notion that would be effecting this. What is the control that sets how much portamento to use in the case that a user is wanting to use it? I have looked up and down trying to determine what this is. Anyone who has clues?

Hello PPNotion!
Notion 3 and Notion SLE are prepared to switch articulations automatically for our Special Edition and Special Edition PLUS, as well as for the Vienna Choir. Sorry to say, that there are no such settings for the Chamber Strings.
Here is what you can do to make it work nevertheless:
- Add VSL Special Edition (- PRO)/Strings/Chamber Strings instruments in your score setup.
- Open the instrument interface.
- Replace all the cells with the according patches from the Chamber Strings collection. You can save a preset then. So you don't have to repeat this step for all of your projects, but can load your preset instead.I hope this helps.
Best regards,

I am writing custom rules in Notion for Chamber Strings, Flute 2 and Bassoon. I actually work at Notion. The patches that I am using are playing back in a portamento style. I am not using portamento patches. I can't find a way to stop it currently. I have already set presets and written the rules. I am triggering from Notion, the main sustain patches. The notes that are playing back this way, have no articulations on them. I do have a portamento patch loaded in the matrix and it is key switched with the Slide function in Notion 3, but in the case that I am speaking of, there is no slide added. Thanks for your attention.

Okay. I have a clue. I just moved the Violin 2 staff that I was having trouble with into the Violin 1 Channel of VE Pro. The staff no longer causes the problem. The Violin 2 staff was sending data to it's own channel in VE Pro, but I was using the same Preset. Should I create a new Preset, even though it is still the same sample set?

Thanks for explaining the details. As written in the other thread, there is no portamento function in VI or VI Pro.
I don't think it is necessary to create a separate preset for Violin 2. The same preset should work for as many VI (Pro) instances as you want.
Best,
Andi
