  • [SOLVED] VIP/VEP upgrade issues

    Hi,

After upgrading VEP to 8008, my template in Logic refuses to connect to the VEP instances - the server interface in Logic says "NOT CONNECTED (invalid version)". If I remove the VEP plugin and insert it again, the "invalid version" disappears but I can't connect to any of my decoupled instances (they don't appear in the server interface anymore, I only get "new" instances). The decoupled instances don't appear anywhere, in fact, not even in the "invalid version" instances of the plugin.

I'd like to add that I'm in a middle of a project with a deadline. I know well enough that one shouldn't upgrade anything in the middle of a project. However, I needed a full version of an English Horn to go on top of my Special Edition.

    1. The EH Download Instrument extended version didn't load in my 7something version of VIP. So I needed build 8008 for the EH DL articulation to appear in VIP.

    2. My orchestral template in VEP couldn't see these articulations either, because I needed to upgrade that, too. So I installed build 8008 of VEP. This messed up the connections between Logic and all my decoupled instances (6 of them, all local).

I'm now stuck and can't work anymore, only because I wanted to add the full English Horn to my template. Surely there is a way to avoid this mess.

Please help me solve this as quick as possible. Thank you very much.

  • OK, Apple's fault as usual. In case anyone has the same problem: restart Logic in 32-bit mode and then go back to 64-bit. You won't get the plugin rescan dialog but the VEP connections will be restored automagically.

    Cheers. Back to work :)
