  • Hi Gabriel,

The cell is the default setup. I just loaded the trumpet matrix, for instance and then it is all put in place. (with; according to me; some strangely organized programming) But I'll look up your provided link! Thank you!!

  • Hello Arnold!

Could it be, that you also have an accent-symbol on your staccato notes? In this case the combined cell staccato/sustain gets triggered. If you want accented notes to just be played louder and not to trigger a different patch, you can do so by editing your Sibelius dictionary entry for the accent symbol. In this case just remove the Sound ID entry +accent.

    I hope this was helpful.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi,

No, I have no accent symbols (if you mean the > symbol) only a stac. dot.

I now have deleted all the sustain patches under the stac. patches in order to playback the right sounds; saved the setup and it runs as I want it to run.

But still I wonder, where is it good for? For live on stage playback using the modwheel?

  • Hi Arnold!

The staccato mark alone should trigger the staccato patch without any sustain patch lying underneath. What exactly did you load with VI Pro? The trumpet matrix, a preset or did you build a custom matrix? Which sound set are you using?

The Special Edition sound set will only switch correct with the Special Edition matrices and the Special Edition PLUS sound set will only switch correct with the Special Edition PLUS matrices.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Yes, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe that would cause this effect. I have to different kinds of libraries loaded in one instance. SE + strings and the rest is the default SE (dark blue box)

I have loaded the trumpet default matrix. (all the instruments I've loaded where the default matrix files so that sibelius can switch between them instantly and I don't have to much to fiddle around creating a new matrix)

  • Hi Arnold!

Please use a second VE instance for the Special Edition instruments, where you load the Special Edition sound set. If you use the SE PLUS sound set for SE matrices, the switches will not work correctly.

    Best,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi!

    Yes, I will. Thank you!

  • Hi,

I was looking for this post for I have the same problem as in 2011...

To recreate the problem I will provide more information in the attachements.

I have 2 instances of VE running. One with special edition + samples and one regular for the percussion, harp etc.

Now I am making this orchestration where for instance the trumpets needs to play sforzandi. So I would expect to "just" place "sfz" under the notes in order to get the VI Pro trumpet strip to change from sus. to sforzando.

    But it does not.

Sometimes updates will work, I've learned in the past. But I am still working on my good old mac and I actually had no problems, untill today. Maybe I overlooked something? Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

  • Hello Arnold!

To trigger our sforzato articulations, the Sound ID +sforzato is needed. I have seen on one of your screenshots that you have entered +sforzando there. Anyway, I recommend importing the "Vienna Symphonic Library" House Style. Then all dictionary entries will be optimized for the use with our instruments. In order to keep your layout, only select "Playback dictionary" and "Instrument definitions" for import.

    Best regards,
    Andi
