    Hi there,

    I have a Quad Core Intel Mac Pro 3.0Ghz as my master machine running Pro Tools 9 HD6 Accel hardware.

    To this I have connected via a local gigabit switch my slave PC which is a dual Xeon 3.0Ghz HP PC running Win XP Po and VE Pro server build 4881.

    the two are connected fine and in pro tools the server interface shows as connected 32 bit,

    I am trying to run vienna special edition and some other vsti's although not at the same time.

    Have I got enough horsepower to allow this ?

    If so then I have something set wrong or its a windows problem i.e it's a friday ;o)

    At the moment I'm getting note hanging and clicks and pops when I load and play any vienna patch.

    If I load Halion Sonic it seems OK.

    Any suggestions ?

    Maybe it's a memory problem

    1_How much RAM you got on the slave machine?

    2_Is it a 32bit system? The 32 bit VE Pro won't let you assign more than 3 to 4 Gb of memory to VE Pro.

    If you can use VE Pro 64 bit server, you can assign as much RAM as you have. But I guest its impossible to run VE Pro 64 bit on XP 32.

    3_Try updating VE Pro to build 8008

    I'm afraid I'm all 32bit on both Mac and PC...[:(]

    I have 10Gb in the Mac and 3Gb in the PC.

    Its funny but it worked alot better when I first installed it.

    Maybe I should try running VE Pro on my Mac alongside PT9 ?

     I'm running an old PPC for my Avid DSP cards and PT, and a new Westmere as the VI slave with VEP (listed in my signature).

    One important setting is the playback buffer size in PT. Anything below 512 samples is no good for me.

    Hi Dave -- It's significant hassle, but 3 GB and 32 bit OS are desperately painful constraints these days. As ugly as the migration to a new OS can be, I'd go for it, and get some more memory. Also, be sure to research good OS tuning tips so that Windows 7 isn't hogging too many resources. It does a lot of scheduled hoo-ha that is not important if you're using the PC as a pure slave.

    I'm running 256 samples buffer size.

    Will change this and report back.

    My slave PC is a dual Xeon HP workstation XW6000.

    Will it magically become 64 bit if I put windows 7 on it ?

    I thought I'd need 64 bit architecture hardware too ??

    I'm up for buying win 7 if you think this will make a significant difference...
