  • Hard Drive Failures - Vienna Numbering System Explained?

    Hello,

I'm having problems with a couple of my hard drives and need to re-install some of my samples.

I have thousands of samples on several hard drives and I'm not sure exactly what samples were loaded where.

Is there a list of all the vienna libraries with the numbering system used to explain which libraires correlate to which samples?

Ex: 31: Piccolo, 32: Flute, etc. = Woodwinds Standard Library...

Thanks so much for any info!

    Frank

  • It doesn't matter which drives the VSL samples were originally loaded on, because Once you have pointed Directory Manager in the right direction, it all becomes irrelevant to the Vienna Instruments player. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are going to do...

  • Thanks for the comment.

Except I don't know which samples coorelate since several drives are now not working.

So I don't know which ones to reload off the CD/DVDs...

Is there a list of  the vienna sample libraries with their numbering system as they are seen on the hard drives once installed?

    Thanks again for any info!

  •  I don't know, but if you tell me which Collections you have, and can wait a couple of hours until my studio become free, I'll check for you.

BTW if you back up your hard drives with the samples on, you only have to copy the content, run Directory Manager and you're good to go. Much quicker than installing from DVD.

  • Thanks for your help DG.

I have pretty much everything VSL makes other than the choir, imperial piano, and the new brass.

    I really appreciate it.

It's kind of amazing there isn't just a graph that lists the samples and their corresponding DVD libraries as they appear on your hard drive.

    Thanks again for any info!
