MIR Pro will also be OS-X compatible, which is always a challenge.

Actually, MIR Pro is more or less ready, but we will work another two months on it: We've decided to implement the possibities that were introduced with the new Hybrid Reverb into MIR, too. :-)

[:O] Wow! [:O]
That's somehow funny, 'cause after almost one year of using MIR I don't like sound algorhythmic reverbs anymore...[:D]
Just of habit and fashion changes...
Beside my jokes - so can we expect e.g. using the venues of the studio roompacks for positioning and "ER"s with adding an "algo"-tail - all done with the only one "plug in" - MIR pro? Sounds really awesome... FrankPersonally, I don't need algorithmic reverbs for authentic spatial positioning either ;-) .... but there's no doubt that our ears got somewhat used to the "sweetening" that the broad, modulated reverb tails can add to the natural room information. Right now, we're trying to find a sonically convincing and easy-to-use way to implement "best of both worlds" into MIR.
Have you yet decided anything about the pricing of MIR Pro, or if you have, can you talk about it yet? The Finnish Composers’ Copyright Society is paying their copyright royalties in a week and I was originally going to buy the product with that, but with MIR Pro not out yet I'm wondering how much of that I should save for buying this product when it is released.
Hi Dietz,
A quick question. Currently in my 2-machine system I have a 2008 Mac Pro 3.2 GHz 8-core master and a big PC slave that I use for MIR processing. Will I need to replace this Mac Pro to work with MIR Pro even though I have this powerful PC?
In other words, do all machines in the MIR Pro network need to be able to process at the level currently required for MIR?

Thanks for your interest, Sami - highly appreciated.
There is no final price tag for MIR Pro, but I think it is safe to say that it will cost at least as much as Vienna MIR does now. There will be upgrade paths from Vienna MIR, BTW.

MIR Pro's core engine will have to reside on one machine, so I assume you will simply use the most powerful one for the task. 😊
Thank you very much for the quick answer Dietz.

That's only rational and fair. I was thinking more if it will be closer to 1000€ than 2000€, but I think you already answered that question. 😊
So, that's what I'm realised after one night sleeping over 😊 We can expect the release maybe in the end of august? (Personally much appreciated - 'cause I'll be in vacation than!) Frank@Dietz said:

HTH,
My suggestion :
MIR pro with a few rooms for 199 euro [;)]
Extra room for 99 euro each [;)]
This will allow everybody to have MIR, big studio can buy a lot of rooms, non profit music writer can buy extra rooms for XMAS or there birthday [;)]
Best
Cyril
P.S. it will be very interesting for you to make a pool to see what kind of your user are using VSL
Music / VSL is my dancing girl !
I think the price of MIR should not be to pricy but not to cheap to..
As a professonal composer, I'm not sure to buy it if it's more than 1000$. I would prefer buying a piece of hardware like a mic pre before this amazing but not essential software.
On the other hand, It may be better to support VSL's software developpment so they'll keep making good softwares. Making good software have a cost. (Yes Sergio, I have edited my post, it was not exactly what I was trying to say. I wish it will be as affordable as possible for everyone.)
My opinion is that MIR Pro should be offer at the same price (795euro) as the actual MIR, and this one should get a price drop (around 450Euro) if not discontinued. But this is just my personal opinion, I'm not aware of the developpement cost of such sotware, neither what is a good marketing strategy.
But I wish it's gonna be cheap enough to add it to my set up this year.

Dear Fred,
if you are a professional composer, why don't you keep on composing and stop writing useless and dangerous things.
I don't own a normal laptop with a single drive. Nevertheless I would like all the world working or just having fun with MIR, even with just only one instrument. Maybe you fear somebody clever than you could write music better than yours?
Maybe Dietz and Paul and Company are masochist and like lots of customer complaints, what do we know?
I don't see why people started talking of marketing and money and not of music and Vienna products.
Sergio
Dear Sergio,
Sorry that you take it so personnal,
I'm not english speaking so it's hard for me to be clearly express my idea.
I should have said that I'm not expecting it to be cheap.
I don't see why people started talking of marketing and money and not of music and Vienna products
Sorry, next time I will ask your permission before posting a comment on this forum.

Nice suggestion, Cyril. 😉
Vienna MIR is available for 795,- Euro right now.
At 795 , how many MIR did you sold ?
My bet : less than a hundred [;)]
At 795 not a lot of users are going to buy it as they can do there mix without it (at that price I will not buy it)
at 299 with 1 or 2 rooms your are going to sell many, (to me too) [:D]
FredB says :
> Don't be so alarmist, I don't think my opinion (and yours) will influence VSL's marketing department anyway.
It did work for the "NEW DOWNLOAD INSTRUMENT"

Ok guys,
I agree that was an bad idea to contribute to a discussion about the price of MIR.
Of course I wish it will cost almost nothing from a simple costumer point of view.
Just trying to show the downside of it. But if i can have it for less I'll be more than happy.
If it's profitable for everyone. Why not? Will see.
Allright!?
it was not a bad idea.
VSL lives in it Ivory tower, it is good for them to know what we think!
best
