  • Custom Matrix Ram Size

Hello All, This would be my first post although I have frequented the boards for over 5 years now. I've been dreaming of using Vienna Symphonic Library ever since I was in high school orchestrating with the general midi of windows. Well, recently I purchased VSL SE and SE+ and am super stoked. I am however currently having trouble playing instruments without having some of the samples drop out. I am on an 8 core mac pro with 4 gb ram, and am running the library off of a firewire 800 hard drive. The only way I think I can improve my performance is as follows: A) buy more RAM (not feasible at the moment for me) B) uninstall the library and reinstall it on an internal hard-drive so as to up the speed from 800mb/s to 3.0 Gb/s. But I feel that would only load the patches into the RAM faster and not help me with my problem. C) stop using the prefabricated matrices and instead make my own reflecting the articulations I would actually be using. I have opted for the moment to go for C. The only problem is I can't see the RAM size of my custom matrices. Can this be calculated by adding up all the individual patches? Or is there some sort of a non-linear function that will give me the accurate RAM size. Or, (please be true) is there a way to see the RAM size in Vienna Instrument? Thanks in advance, Michael Sousa p.s. really excited to be here! p.p.s apologies if this has been already answered in the forums, as I only checked briefly.
