• MIR vs. MIR SE

Does MIR SE have Adjustable Room Tone (natural noise floor)?  Also, does it support third-party VSTis, or is that only the big MIR?  It would be nice to see a comparison chart of what features are included in both, or a chart of what MIR SE does not have.  I really want this software, but am not sure I can lay out al the money at one time!

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Quoting the MIR SE page on our site (-> http://www.vsl.co.at/en/211/497/1687/1913/1554.htm)

Vienna MIR SE offers almost all of the features and functions of the “big” Vienna MIR at a favorable price. For less stress on computing power, some specifications have been limited:

    • Maximum of 32 instances (Vienna Instruments and 3rd party plug-ins).

    • Stereo only (no surround option).

    • No microphone editor, but customized stereo presets.

    • 3 rooms of the Vienna Konzerthaus (Grosser Saal, Mozartsaal, Neuer Saal) with 2 microphone positions each. RoomPack 2 and RoomPack 3 offering additional acoustic spaces are available for download.

Vienna MIR SE comes with customized templates for the Vienna Special Edition, our entry-level orchestra library, making instrument placement on the virtual stage a piece of cake.

An upgrade path to the full version of Vienna MIR is available at EUR 445,-.

    Dietz,

I already read the web site about MIR SE, however, I misinterpretted it!  My fault!  Just so that I know for sure, the four things listed under MIR SE (the four bullet points), are the only limitations or difference from the full version, right?

After hearing all the demos (I can't use the demo version of the software, I have not gotten my new computer yet) all I can say is, "Ich liebe MIR. ich will es jetzt!"

What is the smallest hall (recital hall size) in the packs?

Thanks again for all your help.

    Michael

    HTH,

  • Thanks for the kind words, Astro!

There are manuals with short descriptions and photographs available for free download for all RoomPacks, covering every released MIR Venue. There are also little prerendered audio-"Previews" to give you an impression about the acoustics of each hall.

-> http://www.vsl.co.at/en/211/497/1687/455/1927/1579.htm (select RoomPacks 2 and 3 on the left side to access their Previews, too)

  • PS - I should add that the basic colour of MIR SE's GUI is different from Vienna MIR, too. ;-)

DIFFERENT COLOURS!  That's a total deal breaker!  😊
