  • Vienna Solostrings Extended won't install Plz HELP!

    Hello!

I just got the Vienna Solostrings Extended package to my door and I decided to install it directly excitet as I was. And everything works fine untill the 6th .cab file is being copied to my hard-drive. When the installation window is saying: "Writing 01 Solo Violin\SoloViolin25.dat..." Then a message box appears that says:

"Cannot read installation package (file is corrupted?)

DVD Collections: Your DVD drive might be overheating. Please take a brake between the installation DVD's or copy the content of all DVD's to a temporary folder on your harddrive. Then point the Library Installer to the package.info file in this newly created folder and your installation will start from here.

Download Instruments: Please re-download D:\\setup-solostrings06.cab file of this Instrument from the VSL User Area once again. Make sure to empty the cache of your browser before."

Then the whole intsallation is being abortet and all the files deleted. I tried to do as you suggest and copy the files to my hard-drive first, but it didn't help. What should I do?

I am using windows 7, 32 bit. brand new computer by the way, professionally built for music making...

What should I do? I tried to open all the windows so that the room got really cold. It didn't help. I mean I just purchased this product goddamit! Thanx for any help!

  •  It depends what you mean by "copy the files to my hard-drive first, but it didn't help", do you mean that you still got an error when you tried to copy to your hard drive, or that it copied OK, but you got the error when installing the library package from the hard drive?

If you can copy the DVD contents to your hard drive all OK (just the 6th cab file), then it would suggest that the file is corrupt on the DVD, if you cannot read the DVD without an error, then it could be your DVD drive not being very tolerant of a less than perfect DVD, either case it sounds like you need a new installation DVD. If it is the latter, you could try to read the DVD on another computer, as that drive may read the file, then save the cab file to a memory stick, and use that file.

By the way, why are you using a 32-bit OS?  Big libraries like VSL really need more than 3GB of RAM, which is the max you'll get from a 32-bit OS.

  • Hello Torsten,

I just answered your mail to and provided you with the Download Manager and a link to download all the files, as the quickest solution.

    Hope that works for you!

    Best,

    Paul

Yes, but since the DVD-drive is brand new, just like the Vienna Solo Strings DVD, I find it a litle fishy.. I got help from the support as you can se, I'll get to download the whole thing with the download manager.. so problem solved 😊 but thanks for the help though! Appriciate it!

Why 32bit and not 64bit? Well very few of the plugins that I've bought over the years support 64bit. yes it's true that it is important with lots of RAM when working with heavy samplers like Vienna but then I allso got Vienna ensemble so that Im able to run more than one computer to distribute the weight of these samplings.. :)
