    I am using the download clarinet with Sibelius 6.2 on Mac OSX 10.6.6. I am using the VE 4 player and the Woodwinds + Brass soundset. I have a one staff score (Bb Clarinet) using the Vienna Symphonic Library House Style Manuscript. In the manual soundsets I have one channel (1) assigned to clarinet. In the VE I have one channel, set to MIDI in: Omni, channel: 1, with the Download Instruments PRESET -Files>Woodwinds>15D Clarinet Bb>Clarinet Bb selected for "Preset Select". In the score I have a passage of whole notes and half notes with slurs and the technique text legato. The playback insists on using the sFz patch even though this is not notated anywhere in the score. I have tried just slurs, just the technique text legato, and both together, but still the playback uses the patch sFz. I deleted this patch and dragged over legato-sus, and then the playback switched to legato-sus, but when the notes changed to 1/8 staccato (indicated with the staccato dots from the Sibelius keypad), the playback remained legato-sus. Why are the indications in the score not correctly triggering the correct patches? EDIT: It seems that it is defaulting to the sFz patch. If I leave it alone, the staccato effects playback where appropriate. But why does it default to sFz and how can I change this? It is quite inappropriate for what I need. Why don't the slurs trigger legato like they are supposed to?

    Hello sibeliusmusic!

    You have loaded the wrong preset. All of our sound sets (except the Special Edition and SE PLUS sound sets) only work with the presets, that come with the sound sets. In order to be able to load these presets, you have to copy them to your VSL Custom Data folder first. In your case you will need the preset "D49 Clarinet Bb".

    Ok thanks. I see that one and will load it instead. My question then is what is the one I previously loaded for? Is it that it merely is not for use with Sibelius?

    Right, the other preset may be useful for users of sequencer programs, but not for Sibelius.
