    Hi,

    If I  understand properly, with the current version of Mir it is possible to insert software plugins for individual instruments. For example, you could insert a Vienna Suite compressor on a trumpet alone within Mir.

    My question is within Mir Pro, will we be able to insert outboard hardware gear into an instrument channel. For example, would we be able to insert a Neve compressor on a trombone within MIr Pro? I'm sure I could insert hardware for Mir Pro overall within the channel that return it to my sequencer - but that's not the issue here. I'm looking for individual instruments hardware inserts.

    Due to the fact that MIR Pro will integrate into most DAWs, you will be able to use the same facilities the host offers. With Nuendo, for example, you would use its latency-compensated "External Inserts" before or after an audio signal passes the MIR engine.

    Dietz,

    Thanks for the quick response. Since in my case I use Logic and it has a similar plug called, 'i/o' I assume that will work for me.

    However that does bring up another question regarding Mir Pro's workflow intricacies. Will it make a difference if Mir Pro resides on the Master DAW or on a slave computer in being able to insert hardware this way?

    Assuming you're instantiating the VI you're working on in Logic, it won't make any difference as far as the resulting audio is concerned.

    will MIR Pro be able to process external (non Vienna) signals?

    Or even any kind of audio signal?

    Vienna MIR is able to work with 3rd-party (non-VSL) instruments since Version 1.1.

    MIR Pro will be able to process _any_ kind of audio input, no matter if it is derived from a virtual instrument or a conventional digital audio stream.

    ... just keep in mind that the real magic of MIR only happens when the engine "knows" something about the incoming signal (... this is the information stored in MIR's "Instrument Profiles"). All signals other than Vienna Instruments have to rely on so-called "General Purpose"-profiles, which miss some of the interesting aspects, like the directional frequency profiles or the Natural Volume-feature.

    Hi Dietz,

    If Mir Pro resides on a slave machine and the 'audio stream' that you want to process is on the master DAW machine, how would that audio get to Mir Pro?

    Via a network connection (something like VE Pro does now) or would it necessarily have to go through from an audio interface on the master out to an input of an audio interface on the slave where Mir Pro is installed?
