I am wondering if anything odd has been noticed about the tenor trombone (solo) in MIR SE. When I use the instrument set up for MIR it sounds unusually mid-high frequency, as if it had been EQ'd up over the dry samples in the mid high range. I had to switch to a cardioid general purpose instrument because it sounded strangely metallic. Has anyone noticed this? It does not happen with the ensemble trombones or the bass trombone. Just the tenor tbn solo.
The other thing is I switched from the conductor's mike position to the 7th row position in the large Konzerthall and with the same dry/wet ratios it sounded like LESS reverb in the trumpets and trombones and tuba. I cranked up the wet and it still sounds rather dry compared to the CLOSER mike position. I don't understand this at all and wonder if something went wrong, or if it is just a characteristic of that particular place in the hall - like the sound is extremely clear there? A sweet spot that actually sounds clearer than the conductor's position? Or perhaps this is the result of highly directional sound like those brass instruments? What I am getting does not sound bad but it just seems like far less wet reverb sound than one would expect.
