  • Problem with Sibelius and Cubase - Midi export and further mixing

Hello! Yet I have another problem which disables me to finish my current orchestral piece I'm composing right now. I made a song with Sibelius using the VSL Special Edition Plus (standard only) and now I want to export the midi and put it into Cubase to add some more instruments, change some things Sibelius didn't do right and mix it with a clearer sound. I already made a template which uses the exact same Vienna Ensemble saves from Sibelius to make sure it sounds as good as in Sibelius without further editing. Ive exported the MIDI from Sibelius with the current playback device so it contains the same keyswitches. When I put it into my Cubase template, some articulations aren't hearable. The staccato repetitions appear only sometimes for example. I've tried many playback configurations and MIDI export options with Sibelius before exporting but I can't get it to work the way it is meant to be. I've uploaded both versions of the song. The Sibelius version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1138839/Intero%20Sibelius%20version.mp3 The Cubase Version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1138839/Intero%20Cubase%20version.mp3 Does anyone know a solution to this?

  • Hello Intero,

mayby you have to put the keyswitched a bit further then the note.
The keyswitch must be, before the note you want to be played. That could be a 16 / 32... note.

    Hope it helps.

    regards

    Torsten

  • They already are and I tried what you said. That didn't help. :(

  • Hello Intero!

What do you mean with, you put the MIDI file into your Cubase template? I recommend the following procedure.
    - Open Cubase without any template (Press cancel on the Project Assistant)
    - Import the MIDI file
    - open VE and load the VIFrame you saved
    - make MIDI Port and channel assignments

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • I don't know why but you just solved my problem! Thank you so much! And I can still use my template. The problem was within the MIDI channels I specially created in the template with some options. Looks like it crippled the keyswitches. Now I'm using just the normal MIDI channels I get by importing. Thanks again!
