• Looking for MIR and Sibelius DEMOS

    Hello everybody,

As my title suggests, I'm looking to hear some demos with MIR and Sibelius. The reason is simple: I have Sibelius and I'm wondering if I have to go and buy MIR. Please, if anyone have some short or long samples, I would be very happy to have the opportunity to hear them. I know that MIR is a superb software and almost magic, but since I'm in classical, I use note inputs from notation score , so I'm very interested to hear the combination of these two !!

     Many thanks,

    Bogdan

  • Hello Bogdan,

thanks a lot for your interest in Vienna MIR!

From MIR's point-of-view it doesn't make any difference how the MIDI data that control the instruments on its stages is created. It could be a MIDI-sequencer (on the same machine or on a second computer), it could be a pure notation program, or even notes you play live on a MIDI-keyboard.

In that sense, any piece created with MIR could also be something that could be a demo for Sibelius & MIR, too. :-)

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Dietz,

As usual a pleasure to talk to Vienna support team. I really appreciate your feedback and the prompt responses. Your answer told me almost everything in terms of compatibility. Since I have  Mac Book Pro I5 /8 Gg + a win machine quad core 3.2 /12 Gg as slave, probably I have to go to a higher configuration even with MIR SE. My question is : MIR is going to be released for MAC in the next period ( I know it can not  be a precise date given, and nobody does this, but just a hint )? because I really want to know where to put my money ;to upgrade Mac or WIN machines?

Honestly, I prefer MAC , but that's only a part from the equation;))

    Thank you for your time,

    Best

    Bogdan

  • Hello,

No need for the response ; I've just seen your response for MIR and OSX , so in this situation I'll be more than 100% your first new client !!

By that time I'll be having a better machine

    Thank you anyway,

    Bogdan

  • I see - you've already made up your mind ;-)

BTW: The MIR Manual is available as free download from your VSL User Area  -> http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/428/709/376/239.htm .... It contains a chapter  dedicated to the possible setups and combinations of hard- and software (Section D, "Entering the MIR Orbit: Integration and Optimization of Vienna MIR in Your Daily Work", p.71 ff.).

    Kind regards,

  • Once again, Thank you for your fast response as well as for suggestions,

    Hi Bogdan,

I work (from an amateur perspective) exclusively with Sibelius and Mir. My website has a number of MP3s with this combination. Recently I have been working on a huge orchestral score and you can hear and read about it here.

Sibelius and MIR work very well together although as VSL is primarily geared towards midi keyboards providing the data some things are a bit cumbersome to do in Sibelius although I am not aware of any function of MIR that you can't control via Sibelius.

  • Thank you very much DaveTubaKing,

I really appreciate your input and of course i'm gonna listen your samples

    Thanks everybody for responses,

    Best

Clearly bogdan has been rendered speechless by the quality of the demos on my website[H]

  • Hi Dietz,

I don't know for some reasons, probably I did something wrong, my previous post was just blank.Weird, since I wrote more than 3 or 4 lines.

I was congratulating Davetubaking for his results regarding the combination between Sibelius and MIR. Really impressive indeed. I downloaded the MIR SE trial version, and try to figure out if my win machine can make it for small projects.Anyway, I'm trying also to use Sibelius on my Mac and MIR on the second machine (win one). Kind of a ....since i'm not a tech guy , but hopefully I'm going to make it.

BTW; if i decide to buy the MIR SE, there will be in the future an upgrade path for MAC---

    ALL the best

Yes, there will be upgrade paths from MIR and MIR SE to MIR Pro, which will introduce OSX-compatibility.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi DaveTubaKing

My specs for both computers are: Mac Book Pro I5 /8 Gg + a win machine quad core 3.2 /12 Gg as slave

Anyway by the time I'm writing this I'm more and more amazed about the quality of MIR, it is indeed a special tool !!

Anyway, once again nice music and arrangements on your website,

    I really enjoyed your compositions
