  • VE PRO + K4 memory server: Could not allocate enough memory

    Hi there.

I am hitting a strange memory ceiling here when building a new template. I use almost solely Kontakt 4 with memory server turned on, but even then, I am now getting a "PANIC: Could not allocate enough memory. Application is likely to become unstable" with the VE Pro server running 32-bit. I thought that I would be good and that VE Pro would only need minor memory allocation (for holding the plugin itself etc) since I use the Kontakt memory server.

I am mainly still running the server in 32-bit mode to be able to use plugins like Altiverb that still isn't 64-bit. So.. what is causing this to happen, even though I use the K4 memory server and is there any other solution besides changing to 64-bit server?

  • did you check with "activity Monitor" how much memory was left when you get this error ?

  • Activity monitor is reading 2.4GB for the Vienna Pro - so maybe that is as it should be. However, I can see VE Pro eating up memory when loading the first samples of a patch in Kontakt, or maybe that first loading is only loading up the actual structure of the patch...? Whatever it is, it takes up quite a bit of memory, and I guess I just need to use the 64-bit server for heavy sample loading like this, even with Kontakts memory server being used.

  • in Activity monitor you have at the bottom  System Memory

and on the left you have "Free"

You look only when you have the error message and report the figures

    What is your configuration ?

  • Oh, it is not a problem of generally running low on memory. It must be the limit for the 32-bit version of VEP, around 2.4GB...
