Everytime I open a project that used any VSL instruments, Nuendo freezes on initialization and I get an error message from VSL saying that there is no license. So I got re-seat the USB dongle, select the re-try option in the VSL error message window and then Nuendo opens up and I'm good to go from then on. I do my day's work and shut the computer down. The next morning at the start of my workday I get that same irritating message!

Do I have a deffective key or something? Why do I have to re-seat the dongle EVERY single day?

Anybody else dealing with this kind of quirk?

  • I've just written about the same issue in the VE/VI forum. Which player are you using? VIPro, Vi? With VEPRO or alone? Just trying to fathom if it's a VSL issue or elicenser

  •  I'm using Solo Strings I standard library.

  • Do you use the latest version of the elicenser ?

I know that this is a typical IT *bs* answere, but here it  often seems to work.

Had a similar problem after a new registration and the new firmware donwload fixed it.

Also look at which libraries Vienna Instruments standalone or Nuendo VST shows as licensed.  Mine once got frustrated and showed many libraries, that first worked, but naturally only in demo mode. After a while of course, demo time ´s over and then the elicenser complains about licence errors.

If you are lucky, just closing all the annoying " Error no license for strings, wooddwinds...blablabla" windows for every single instrument and for the standalone AND the VST version of the Vienna Player solves the problem .

Sometimes you need more than 1 or 2 starts because demo phases may end up differently.

Do you use the exploration kit in parallel ?  I tried it and both keys don´t seem to harm each other and also show the correct licenses as well as the Vienna Player, but better make sure.

If not click on the Elicenser centre and look if it shows a valid permanent licence or  demo mode ( xy hours or days left etc).
