  • eLIcenser critical error during Vienna SE extended license activation

    Hi everybody,

I already sended this issue to the VSL support team...

...but if some other people here can help me, it will be welcome.

During the downloading process of the Special Edition (SE) extended library license to my eLicenser (using eLicenser Control Center last version), an error ocurred. The error wasn't explanatory, only remember to read something like "... an error ocurred during the download of activation...try to reboot your computer...". Just after, the first thing I did is the "recover" function of the eLicense Control center, without success. But I realized that the error causes not only I wasn't able to activate the extended license, but my already activated SE standard license (activated the day before) of my eLicenser also disappears. Now, I don't see the SE standard nor SE extended license on my eLicenser.

Next step was reboot the computer, no solution at all. Of course, just after I tried to re-enter activation codes, but as expected, the "activation code already used" message shows me up.

If this could help, I remember having done the "send eLicenser information" (I don't really know what this exactly does or were this info is sended/stored) of the support menu of the eLCC. This was on friday after activate SE standard. I played and did some musical test to my brand new Vienna library on friday evening, everything worked fine. The problem occurs the day after, saturday, trying to activate the extended library to my eLicenser. Was then when both licenses of SE disappeared of my eLicenser key... any of my other (3rd part vendors) licenses stored on my eLicenser key wasn't damaged/erased.

Never before had an error of any kind with my eLicenser. So, this is a distressed for me.

    Thank you.

    Pere.

  • Welcome Pere,

the reason for this strange behaviour is probably that your eLicenser is pretty old and those early keys have only limited space to store licenses.

it seems when upgrading your standard library license this memory limit has been reached and the process could not be finished.

my recommendation would be to get a new ViennaKey or other eLicenser (eg. from Steinberg) and transfer all your licenses to this key, then clean up eLicenser memory, then try to complete the special edition upgrade and then also move the special edition license to the new key.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
