  • MIR - Message Box Error - No sound [SOLVED]

    Hello,

Last step before having fun with MIR : the soundcard. I have a RME 9652 pci and it's working fine with VEPro and VIPro standalone.

However, I don't know what I did but the same audio device doesn't open in MIR :

    Error...
Starting the audio engine failed. Error message : Could not start audio device
ASIO : ASIO Hammerfall DSP ()

Like I write, it works like a charm with the other softwares. Did anyone have this problem ? I'm not sure but I maybe opened MIR BEFORE installing  the soundcard... There's a way to reset all configuration ?

    Thank you ! [Y]

My first thought - your audio dervice is running on a different sampling rate than 44.1 kHz.

Another wild guess - another application is still running and occupying the audio device (did you check with RME that the 9652 is really multi-client compatible ...?)

    And finally:

... what do you mean by "opening MIR before installing the sound card"? I'm sure this is just a language thing, because I can't imagine that you were physically changing the hardware setup of your system while it was running. Please explain. 😊

  •  Hello Dietz,

I tried in master 44.1 kHz, slave 44.1 kHz, without any success. I uninstalled the RME, Asio drivers, reinstalled MIR, reset computer, no success here too.

And about my sentence, I though the error could be the fact I run MIR before installing the RME drivers (so yes, it's a language think) =o)

By the way, I send you a screen capture of MIR + RME Panel. Hope it will help :

    Thanks again !

  •  ... it's seems MIR can't open the Asio engine as VEPro do very well [:^)]

  • Dear Mathieu,

the control panel in the screenshot clearly indicates that the RME is in AutoSync-mode. Due to the fact that the incoming sample rate seems to be 88.2 kHz, MIR can't open its audio engine as it is using a sample rate of 44.1 kHz for several reasons.

Make sure that the incoming wordclock is set to 44.1, too, and all will be good (hopefully ;-) ...)

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Dietz ! but... no more result. I use the Rosendahl Nanoclocks on 5 computers in the machine room. Now, on 44.1 kHz.

Some captures to understand this strange problem :

    Vienna MIR opening :

    Vienna MIR audio preferences :

Running together or separately, the result is the same.

So, as the audio device works fine, I think it's an official MIR's bug. Any tips or hints to correct that ?
Hope I can help this wonderful product !

    Best
    Mathieu

I can't open the first screenshot, sorry.

Just to make sure that I understand correctly: If you reboot the computer, and you open MIR as the first thing you do after the machine is running again, you get this error, too?

  •  Hi Mathieu,

please delete this file: C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\VSL\Vienna MIR.ini

When running Vienna Mir again, it should show you the Audio Settings dialog after starting up. Please select "ASIO HAmmerfall DSP" and check if the Audio Routing is available now.  You should see a proper Audio Routing table like in VE (and Vienna Mir should be abled to run your soundcard properly now).

    Best wishes, Florian

  •  To answer, yes, first thing I did when I open the computer : MIR

But now, it works ! I though about the .ini file but couldn't find it. Thanks FlorianWalter !! Just show the hidden files and folders.

Thanks Dietz, maybe it'll help someone in a future. It's time to play !

  • You're welcome. So I hope this means you're up and running ...? :-)

    Enjoy!
