  • Problem with the articulations on Sibelius with the sounds of VSL Special Edition

Hello, could anyone please help me!? I have followed the tutorial on how to set up VSL Special Edition inside of Sibelius 5. When I write notation for a string quartet all I hear is pizzicato articulations! I cannot get a legato art. even by assigning the "Technique" text> "ord." to the notes of each instruments. I did everything in the tutorial: I set up the Sibelius Playback Devices accordingly, downloaded the House Styles and the Sound Set files from VSL and created their correspondent files in the correct paths described in the tutorial; loaded all the samples on Vienna Ensemble and NOTHING! please could anyone help me!!!????

  • Hello Hwsanchez!

In order to find the problem, I need to ask you some more questions.
Which Sibelius version are you using exactly?
    Did you activate Vienna Ensemble?
Which sound set are you using exactly?
Did you make settings on the Manual Sound Sets page?

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hello Andi and thank you so much for trying to help. I am using Sibelius 5.4.0 I did activate the device: Vienna Ensemble, type:VST, soundset: VE Special Edition. I did the settings on the Manual Sounds Sets page and assigned MIDI channel 1 & 2  to Violin Ensemble, channel 3 to Viola Ensemble, Channel 4 to Cello ensemble. when I write music all I get is pizzicato! any idea why?

    thanks again Andi!

  • If you are writing for a string quartet, you should choose the programs Solo Violin (x2), Solo Viola and Solo Cello on the Manual Sound Sets page.

    Best,
    Andi
