  • Bug with Vienna Suite and Logic 8

Hi all, I am on Mac OS X (10,5,8) ans I am using Logic 8. I have dowloaded the vienna suite demo (latest file) and tried it. Everything was working at first but after one day, when I was adding a plugin (Reverb or limiter), each time I tried to hit a note, there was a big feedback from the plugin, with the Vu metre going to the sky and reaching all the triggers! I have uninstalled the vienna suite and installed again. When I opened my logic, everything was ok, but when I closed it and started it again, I had the same issue. I must say that it happens only to new plugins I want to add. For example. I was working on a project with Vienna plugins. Everything was ok. I closed my Logic and opened it again. Existing plugin were still ok, but if I want to add new ones, the feedback occurs! I have restarted my computer and installed a third time the plugins. It seems to work at the first logic opening. The issue is coming from the second start. Could you please help me as I would like to buy those gorgeous plugins but this issue stop me. Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Hicks,

Sorry to hear that - I'm sure we can solve the issue. What hardware (CPU as well as audio) are you using? What are the audio system's latency settings?

  • Hi Dietz! Thanks for replying. So my CPU is 2,4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 gig on an Imac with OS 10.5.8 I am using Logic 8 with an apogee duet in audio. My buffer is 512 but I tried also with 1024. Here is a screenshot of my logic session: http://hicks.groupe.free.fr/Image%201.png You can clearly see that the master output reached the sky. And it is due to the convolution reverb which create the feedback (the vu meter at the right goes to space and beyond when the note is triggered). I tried with a new project with no Ram used, and it was the same. Moreover, I tried to lower the volume of the convolution to extreme. When I hit the note I can hear a very little reverb (-24db) but if I increase the volume only a little bit (-20db) the feedback occurs. Thanks a lot for your help. Regards

  • Could you please make the convolution reverb bus a stereo track?

  • Hi Martin. It seems to work. I need to do more test over time to see if it doesn't happen again. Thanks very much for your help. By the way, could you tell me why the mono creates the feedback? Thanks

  • This is a bug that was supposed to be fixed in an earlier release. Are you using the latest version?

  • Thanks. I am using Suite 1.2 build 1494 from the download area. So I should keep using stereo plug in. Would it change somethign about the sounding (Obviously it will be in stereo, but how is it pan?) Thanks

  • Usually, one wants a stereo output from a reverb. Regarding panning, it will follow the panning on the buses sent to it. If you wish to have no panning for the inputs, you can activate the MONO button inside the Convolution Reverb.

    Thanks,
