  • quicktime movie sync sibelius 6.2

I have a project that uses a wav of a percussion loop and some gameplay sfx that i am to score with/around. If i add the video to the project, and host all of the instruments in sibelius (i.e. VE Pro isn't in the picture), everything seems to sync just fine (at least to the sib metronome). Now, once i bring VE Pro into play, the instruments i load into it sync with the metronome just fine, but now the quicktime audio playback is way out of whack (it's early relative to the metronome and VEP). I've tried messing with the delay compensation in quicktime, but it doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. If i switch to windows media in sib's preferences, i see the same issue. Does anyone have any suggestions (or better yet, manual pages that i should refer to)? I'm stumped as to how to fix this. Vista32 PC, Sib6.2, QT Pro, Latest/greatest versions of all software involved. TIA kell

  • Just change the start time in the video dialogue in Sibelius.

  • Hello Kell!

I would also recommend to set the Latency setting on the VEP Server interface to "None", if you need to be in sync with videos. If you experience performance problems afterwards, you may have to rise the buffer size of your audio driver.

  • Andi, Just FYI, I set the buffers to none on all 3 instance of VE Pro, and i still had the same problem, the required offset of the quicktime file was just decreased a bit. Sibelius also seemed to get really twitchy with its buffers set to higher values. That's not your issue though :) Anyway, with the VE Pro buffers at 2, sync is good if i start video playback 9 frames into the score. Offsetting by frames seems to "lock" the best. Luckily, the midi for the score proper will just get imported into a daw (where the percussion programming is), so i can line it all up there for the finished project. Thank you DG and Andi! kell
