  • MIR doesn't position the instruments on the stage

Is there any reason why MIR does not place the instruments in a useful position on the stage. Even though a specific instrument profile is loaded, they always go front left. I was expecting the instruments to be initially positioned where you would expect them to be, I guess this might be something to do with being able to load different rooms, but I am running the demo of MIR which only has one room /mic position, so I'm unable to see the difference between rooms. Each time I load instruments I have to position them, but I end up positioning them where they would normally go on stage, so I thought it would make more sense if the instrument profile held their useful default position, but it seems they don't - or do they somewhere?

  •  Hi andyjh,

it seems that you haven't loaded the venue. The startup venue which is loaded by default when you startup MIR offers just a centered position, therefor no icons can be moved to other positions. This startup venue is just thought for system check.

  • ... no, I think Andyjh is referring to the MIR's standard behavior when adding a new Instrument Icon. In fact there are no "standard positions" to start with (like there are no "standard melodies" or "standard arrangements").

The best way to get what you want is to create a MIR template project once and load this as a starting point whenever you create a new piece.
