  • About Expression Maps & About Brass

I currently have the Special Edition Standard Library and I have been looking into switching my DAW over to Cubase (though I will wait to see if they announce v6 in the next couple of months before I buy).  I am really interested in the ability to use Expression Maps.  I have seen that I can download the SE map from my User Area "Needful Things" list.

I am interested in taking advantage of the Holiday Special and getting one of the brass libraries to extend the brass collection from SE.

    --------------------

    1. If I buy one of the brass libraries (ie. Brass II), would I qualify for a free Special Edition Extended Library?

    2. Which brass library would best compliment SE (+ SE Extended - assuming I can get this free)?  I am looking for that "epic" or "Hollywood" sound.

    3. Are there Cubase Expression Maps available for all Vienna Instruments?

    4. I am also interested in Special Edition Plus (though I can't purchase both a brass library and Plus at the same time).  If I opted to get SE Plus Standard instead a brass library, would this qualify me for a free Special Edition Extended Library license?

  • Hello RefugeDenied!

Thanks for your interest in our Holiday offer and the Expression Maps.
That's right. When you buy Brass I or II or Special Edition PLUS standard, you can get the Special Edition extended for free.

In the Brass I collection you get the most common brass instruments.

In the Brass II collection you get additional brass instruments. The Epic Horns (Horn ensemble with 8 players) are also contained here.

In the Special Edition PLUS, you will get additional articulations for the instruments you have in the Special Edition.

  • Hi Andi,

Thanks for the quick reply.  So many libraries I want, such a limited budget   :)

After carefully considering my options yesterday and today, I think the SE Extended Library has enough Horn Ensemble (8) articulations to get me started and keep me going for a few months.  I now have my eyes on Appassionata Strings I.  The demos sound fantastic for these strings!  I think I will pick this library (standard) today and send an email to get a license for SE Extended, then get a brass collection in a few months.

    ------------------------------

By the way, I'm sure you know your main competitor has a similar promotion going this week.  But after using SE Standard for the last several months and comparing the results of that library with the similar offering from the competitor, VSL will get my vote every time.  Plus, I am so much more impressed with VSL's VI engine than that of the competitor.  Add in the free version of Vienna Ensemble and it's a no-brainer.  I can't wait to get my hands on several more VSL libraries.

    Thanks again for your reply.

  • Thanks for the kind words. That's always good to read. Have fun with the Appassionata Strings.  [:)]
