I've been able to generate a bug I can reproduce 100% of the time with VEP 32-bit server v4.1.7043 and Logic Pro 9.1.3 all under Max OSX 10.6.5
People may already know about this bug (I saw a similar one for Nuendo) but I wasn't able to find specific mention of it in the forums.
More than 20 instances of VEP crash Logic as soon as I hit "Connect" on the plugin. The list of available instances is blank, and logic pauses for about 5 seconds and then crashes. As soon as I back down to 20 instances there are no problems - if I hit "Connect", it immediately lists all 20 instances. I currently have the 20 instances spread out amongst two slave computers with each set at 1 thread per instance (the two computers are MBP Core2Duo laptops).
Is this a known issue, and is there a planned (or existing) fix?

VEP crashes with 20+ instances in Logic Pro 9.13

Hi Nathan, I posted the previous message with the same problem with nuendo and pc based DAWs. I am waiting too for an help or an answer. I sent a mail to the support and waiting for news. This W.E. I was setuping up a new template with 3 slaves and change a lot our way to work because of this bug. To not reach the 20 instances I had to group some VIs in 1 instance (all trumpets for exemple), but it's not really practical.

I just prefer the workflow with Logic of having one VSTi/AU per instance, but even if I didn't, I switch projects frequently, which adds to the number of instances without necessarily closing old ones (I have to do that manually). Is it a huge deal? No. But I prefer, when possible, to be able to work freely, and not think about hard limits or constraints I must adhere to to keep my system from crashing. Karel - thanks for your support. I just emailed a Logic crash report to the support email you mentioned below. My support ticket is 74609_k9s3obvkhe4hpabf.
