  • latest update 7384 - how is it working out for you

Nearly done with a project (I never like to update until I have at least a day buffer)- but for those who have updated -- Any noticable differences in addition to the the list of fixes / improvements.   I just see VE and VIPRO constantly getting better.   Really brilliant software.

Thanks for any feedback / opinions.

  • Constantly getting better and better!

I installed 7384 2 days ago and have been working 18 hr days -- no issues at all (besides ongoing user interface suggestions which I was told one would be fixed soon).

Considering you can roll back to a prior build, you have little to lose by installing 7384. I think the benefits of added stability and fixes outweigh any downside.

AND -- for protools users, we can now uncheck "decouple" without worrying about crashing due to data saves. That alone is worth the effort to upgrade.

I did it, and I'm on deadline -- but the added stability only makes things better.

    Gerard,

A bit dramatic? it does work just fine. By reading your posts, it sounds like you do not have full grasp of how things need to be configured. The audio engine is never off by default. Please do not reply to this... this was Rob's thread... no need to pollute it with your support issue. The new build is not flawed -- your installation may be. And Martin is trying to help you. Do what he says.

  • Thanks J - I'll update today as soon as the client leaves the studio.  looking forward to it.

  •  Hello Jeremy,

I have to answer you because you think I am just spitting dirt at VSL. That is not the case.

It is not necesary to insult me with remarks like 'you don't have full grasp of how things need to be configured'. The audio engine is off by default when I start the new VE Pro. The preferences tab is greyed out. Maybe this is not the way you would like it, but this is the way it is.

I did as Martin asked, I know he wants to help, and I appreciate it. But it made no difference. I have been trying things out the whole day now with no luck. The last version did not have these problems. I did not change anything in my set up, so it must have something to do with the update. So maybe you can understand my remark.

Anyway, nobody 'owns' a thread, so I will just answer when I want to.

  • See my post in the other thread - you must be running the server with one preserved instance, not the Standalone VE Pro. The preferences pane is not available when running in server mode. To get any sound out of this - you will need to have it properly connected to your host. Check out the VE Pro manual (Page 6) - it explains how to set things up.

  • .....anywho.....back on topic.  All seems solid with update (first hour of use) .   Thanks Karel.

  •  Rob, I've had no problems (other than the ones that already existed) and I've been working with it ever since it was released.

  • Thanks DG for your reply - all seems good to me and pro rata as well.   There are some nice new features exploring now.

  • I'm currently using 6853 which is a nice stable iteration for me.

Before I dive in and update to 7384, can I ask:

Does 7384 maintain PPC suppport for Mac? Can it still load 64 bit projects on a PPC? (I can and do do this at the moment)

    Thanks!

    B

  • Yes. There have been no changes in that regard.
