    Is there anyway to automate Kontakt when it is opened in VE Pro? It is pretty straightforward to do when opened directly in Logic, but when I open it in VE Pro and then connect to that through Logic, there is no connection with MIDI or host automation. Any help on this would be appreciated

    You should be able to assign midi cc #'s in Kontakt (within VEP) and simply automate the cc within the Logic regions.  I do it all the time and it works.  For example, set the individual instrument volumes in Kontakt as cc2 (breath)... then write the automation and watch what happens to the individual instrument volumes.
