Sibelius 6.2 VE Pro
Hi. I am running Win7 on a quad core computer. The trial version of VE Pro loads and seems to work. The problem is Sibelius. It does not load the instances I set up in the Playback dialog. What it does instead is load an empty instance of the server. So I set up the server with my instances and ran it first. When I rescan and watch Sibelius start, I see it loading the old VE, but not VE Pro. They are in the same directory! Mark

Hello Mark!
Here is in short, what you have to do to use VE Pro with Sibelius:
1. Start VE Pro Server
2. Start Sibelius
3. Go to the Playback Devices menu and create a new Playback Configuration
4. Activate VE Pro
5. Load the sound set you need and make channel and program settings on the Manual Sound Set page
6. Load instruments in VE Pro and make channel settings
7. Save your Playback configuration everytime you make settings or changes in VE ProI hope this helps.
Best regards,
Andi

Hi, I am sorry Andi, but I have been trying that for 2 days and it does not work. Rather than retype all the steps, I will tell you what is happening. Sibelius is playing the file. In the Sibelius mixer, you can see that the program is outputing midi data. You can also see that that correct instance of VEP is selected and that the channel is right, While it plays, nothing shows in VEP as if it where not recieving the midi data, even though the channel is set to omni.. Yesterday I was using the trial version but used all my starts in one day trying to solve this. The program looked interesting, so now I am running a licenced version. Mark

Thanks for the clue, Andi. I figured that it was a server problem from your response. In your directions, you say to start the server, but you do not say to make the required instances. When I was in Sibelius, the SHOW button showed a default server that you could not change. I noticed when I started the server, I had options of adding an instance. So I used that and defined an instance with the woodwind section of my orchestra. That worked! So I got excited and added the other 3 instances for the rest of the orchestra. It almost worked. For some reason, only the piccolo of the woodwind section worked. Again I figured a server problem and deleted the woowind instance and redid it. Now I have my whole orchestra playing. Thanks for the clue. Mark

Hi Mark!
I'm glad, that everything's working for you now. Nevertheless it shouldn't be necessary to add VE Pro instances with VE Pro Server beforehand. It's also possible to connect to the server with the activated instances in Sibelius. Just click on Show and then connect.
Best,
Andi
