  • elicenser and Windows 7

I just purchased Vienna Imperial and a brand new upgraded studio machine.  All everything did (VSL Products) was crash all evening after a fresh clean install.  I knew it had to do with the elicenser but uninstalling and re-installing did absolutely nothing.  So after an evening of troubleshooting my brand new studio computer I decided to take another crack at it the next evening.

Sure enough, elicenser issues nonstop.  No license this and no license that.  Cannot find any valid elicenser device blah blah.  All the same BS we go through quite frequently.  I suddenly remembered how an application I used on my nonstudio machine expected you to run as administrator the first time you ran it.  So I decided to run Vienna Imperial as administrator and low and behold all of a sudden it worked fine.  I then tested all the other applications using administrator mode (VI Pro, VE Pro, MIR, etc) and all of them worked.

So long story short is, if you're running Windows 7 save yourself time and grief and do the following immediately after installation.

    1.  Right click the shortcut to the application and go to properties.

    2.  On the "shortcut" tab, click the advanced button.

    3.  Check the box "run as administrator".

    4.  Hit Apply and OK.

    5.  Done.

I haven't had another issue since.  I did this for EVERY VSL product on the machine as well as the elicenser application.  After setting them all to run as administrator, I ran each one of them seperately an initial time to get it over with.  I haven't gotten the no license BS since and it's been a few days.

Hope this helps someone out there.
