  • VEPro Server RTAS PI Crashes PT HD if 64 Audio Streams has been set in options -- upon removing...

    Hi,

after setting the option to 64 (instead of 32) audio streams - VEPRO Server RTAS will crash Protools immediately

if the plug in is either - De-Activated (Ctrl+Command click) or de-instantiated or the session being closed.

Setting the preferences back to 32 audio streams alleviates this problem immediately.

    Steps to re-create:

    1) Create a new PT Session @ in my case 48 KHZ

    2) Create a new Stereo AUX objet

    3) Insert VSL

    4) Remove the VSL Plug

PT will crash immediately with below report

  •  It might be worth checking that PT is actually supposed to be able to use more than 32 audio streams, because Logic, for example, isn't.

    DG

  • Protools IS able to handle more than 32. Never had problems in that regard.

It seems however that the problem is with VE PRO and not PT... But I might be wrong...

I CAN send to ALL 64 streams but I CANT remove the plug or close the session without PT crashing on me.

  • This seems to be a problem with Pro Tools. Whenever an RTAS has more than 24 output stems (or possibly 48 channels), it crashes when removing the plugin. Note that Pro Tools also doesn't allow more than 16 MIDI ports. More will simply result in crashes (next update of VE Pro will limit the amount of MIDI ports in the RTAS plugin to prevent this).
