  • Hitting 'SEQ' Button in MOTU BPM Crashes VE PRO 4.1.7043.....

....and every version before it. I was hoping this was fixed in the latest build, but no dice.

  • I think you'll have to give a little more detail about your system, or nobody will have the slightest clue how to help.

  • The MOTU BPM AU is currently incompatible with VE Pro. It's unclear whether it's BPM or VE Pro that is the culprit at this stage.

  • A few thumb rules regarding BPM in VEP...

    1) ALWAYS - insert BPM as the First Plug-In --- Better yet... Before the Master Channel.

I've had issued where VEP would crash on reloading the VI Frame. THen I had to get down and dirty and edit the VIFRAME

with an XML EDitor to get it back up

    2) If you MUST click the SEQ, EDIT etc Tabs (Edit Will ALWAYS crash VEP) click them with long mouse press times. DONT click fast. It WILL crash. What I do, is that I insert BPM, click the SEQ tab and then load the kit. After that point I pretty much refrain from clicking those tabs. I hate crashes.

    3) If you need to need to switch between SEQ and MIX tab - detach BPM window from mixer and re attach it. Then switch to another plug or the mixer page and then back to bpm.

    4) DONT EVER CLICK EDIT

  • I recommend to not use BPM at all in VE Pro until these problems are resolved.

  • Yes this is a bug that's been stopping me from using BPM for a while. I have sent crash logs to both Vienna and MOTU.

Not taking sides here but MOTU indicates that it's a Vienna problem as they have no problems with their plug in any other host.

I'm sure it will get fixed and then we can get back to using the this incredible plug......................which we paid more for than VEP itself!!

  • Karel, do you happen to know if this is being worked on? As others have stated, this would be a wonderful solution for BPM, as it tends to hog a lot of cpu when used inside of Logic, but is much lower in VE Pro.

  • We're working on this with MOTU. I can't give an ETA for a fix on either side though. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • This bug has been fixed for the next update.

  • Thanks for responding with this fix. It's a refreshing change especially for us PTools users who often wait years for small bug fixes and more often than not don't have any fixes at all.

    May you prosper.
