  • My second Vienna Key doesn't accept lycenses

    Hallo

Still me! Sorry but my attempt to connect G5 to MacBook Pro doesn't come so easy. Even with the best technician around here.

So..., all my Vienna library (Solo strings, Epic, Flute 1, Clarinet etc.), that I keep in an external HD, has been copied and pasted into the second inner HD of the G5. With the second Key inserted we tried to write the activation code in the Key (...last version of eLicenser, registered Key). I've seen that all my instruments has only one activation code. Does this means that they can be used only on one computer?

The strange thing is that if I open VI (last version) in G5 (with the second Key inserted) I can see only Waterphone and XXL Tam tam.

Of course we putted all instruments into the Directory Manager and pressed "Rescan existing".

What is wrong in what we are doing?

The only way I have to see all my instrument in G5 (slave) from the MBP (master) is to insert in the G5 the "first Key" (the one I've been always using) and insert the second Key (the new one) in the MBP. But in this way I can't open anymore VI Pro. That is really a pity.

I'm searching in the VE PRO manual but I'm not able to find the way to solve all this.

    Maybe I getting stupid but...

Thanks for the patience and the help

    Roberto

  •  VE Pro has 3 licences

    VI Pro has 3 licences

All other instruments have one licence.

In practice this means that you have to share you instrument licences between the dongles, which you do via the eLicencer software. You can't use the same instrument on more than one computer at the same time.

  • Ok DG thanks

I'll try to understand how to do it

  • Hello DG

So, following what you say, I can read all my VSL library in VI instanciated in VEPro. To do this I open the VE Pro server in G5 (slave) with a Preserved instance (let's call it "strings"). Then I open Logic on in MacBookPro (master) and I instanciate VEPro as AU instrument. inside this I can put VI and this works.

Now comes THE POINT where I'm blocked. In this way I can use only VI as an instrument in VEPro, but not "VIPro", because it can't be installed in G5 (not Intel).

So, I'm asking, how can I use the wonderful Vi Pro using G5 as a slave. Is this possible or not?

I've red about opening another VEPro instance. But this is not clear to me, because the only way I have to do it is from the MacBook and in this way I can't use it because there is the Instance "strings" filling all tracks, and anyway, VIPro woudn't read all the samples that are in the other Key.

    That's where I'm blocked.

I know somebody has done exactly what I'm tryng to do. G5 > MacBook.

I would really appreciate to know how do they solved this point. Maybe they simply didn't use VIPro?

    Thanks again

I think you've answered your own question. [;)]

  • Ok, and because I've answered my own questions , I've also found the solution:

Why not to do the other way round: using the MacBook (Intel !!) as Slave and the G5 as Master?

    And now everything works.

Why to loose three days of work for this?

    Best to everybody
