  • logic and ensemble networked to external computers takes forever to load even when decoupled

I have logic 9 and latest vsl ensemble networked to 2 slave computers with 8 instances of Vienna interfaces in logic all with decouple activated so that I my template is always loaded on the slaves and always the same . I have hardly anything other than altiverb in logic and  the idea is that it should save me load times between projects but when I load a new cue/song in logic it takes forever to load the vienna interfaces (about 5 minutes) Is that normal and if so it's a major flaw and is there a workaround.

Could it be a problem with my network ? I am using a netgear hub which seems to work fine , all 3 computers have fixed ips and are 1000Gigabit speed and masses of ram etc...

  • Try closing  the project, load an empty Logic project, close that and then load the new one. Does it make a difference?

BTW I hope you're using a switch not a hub.....

  • Thanks, but that doesn't seem to make a difference and yes it is a switch (netgearGS605 ) 1000msec all lights green.

I have also noticed if I try and disconnect from the slave and reconnect I get a spinning ball with my slave that is on a pc and not on the slave that is on a macpro which suggests there is something wrong with the communication between the pc and my host computer .(an IMAC 2.8 Quad 16gb ram)

    Any thoughts?

  • Looking into a thread here I changed the static ip on all computers to 169.254.1.x (1 2 and 3 ) from what I had which was 192.168.3.x

and it has improved a lot , although I still get a spinning wheel when connecting to the pc but only for a second or two now.

Any ideas on what might still be stopping it being instant like the mac connection?
