After an extensive break from composing to pursue other interests, I've come back only to discover a lot has changed in 5 years. I've run into a problem that I'm fairly certain I know the answer to, but I felt it would be best to ask the VSL community.
Before, I was strictly PC based and had as many MIDI channels as I needed through the use of MIDIOverLAN although I was never really too enthused about it. Now, I have switched my system to a Mac Pro machine and I'm much happier because I feel I can do pretty much all I need to do on one machine (although a second Pro may be in my future).
The issue at hand is the need for more MIDI ports/channels. I'm currently running through a MOTU MK828II so I get the standard 16 channels, but I know I'm going to need many more like I used to have. If I wish to avoid MIDIOverLAN, is VE PRO a viable option? It seems from the video that I've watched that it would provide me with 512 channels. It IS possible to use this on just one machine correct? My thoughts are that if you CAN, this would be a worthwhile investment because it would give me all the channels I need, plus if I want to expand to multiple computers, I'd already have the software to link them together.
Any help someone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
