VSL Extended or Appassionata?
Hey everyone, I was hoping someone could give me some insight on my next purchase. I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, however I cannot the exact question. I have VSL right now and I am more than happy with everything that is included. My only problem is the fact that the articulations in the Appassionata are very limited. I can get staccato and sustain and thats all. I've come to realize that these strings are absolutely incredible, so here is my question; Should I buy VSL extended (which has appassionata) or should I just buy the Appassionata DVD's? I can only afford one of the DVD's if I go that route or VSL extended. Obviously later on I would buy the extended of the Appassionata if that is what I get now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jared

Hi, Jared.
I'm guessing you have VSL SE (no Extended). I have the SE Extended. If so, the Extended will give you some more instruments. I got the Strings PLUS to add to my SE, and the Appassionata is the same limited articulations, but added Muted feature.
I'm thinking of eventually getting the Appassionata Strings I. There's lots of articulations there, plus I believe you get the Samples for every half-step, instead of every whole-step, which is what the SE version of things has.
My opinion would be to get the Appassionata Strings I, instead of the Extended version of SE for now, if you want to really work with great strings with many articulations.
Good luck!

Hello JaredB and welcome in the family here.
Strings are very important in nearly every piece of orchestra.
So it is always a good decission to buy a full string library.
If you don't have the whole amount of money for it buy the standard library and later on the extended as well...
So these are your future strings - in a very special way [H]
1st Part: Chamber Strings II
2nd Part: Appassionata Strings I (Perf-Legato with 4 sustain-levels / X-faded)
...played in the Matthias Church (INSP:IR)
Have fun
