  • Multiple Instance VE PRO problem

    Hi,

I'm running VE PRO-Build 5436-64bit on a Mac Pro Quad-core Intel Xeon, 266gHz, with 12 GB of RAM and OS 10.6.4. It's a slave machine and I have K4 as a plug-in within VE PRO. The sequencing computer is running DP and everything's working fine with one instance of VE PRO. However, as soon as I create a new empty instance, the audio begins to cut off intermittently (not crackle). I can see from the meters in K4 that the audio's breaking up at that point, so it's nothing to do with my sequencing DP machine.

I've tried changing the number of 'Multiprocessing threads per instance' and turning off the Multiprocessor support in K4 but nothing seems to fix the problem. I'm in the middle of a BBC series and this is a major pain, so I'd be really grateful if anyone could help.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andy.

  • Can you reproduce this problem using Vienna Instrument ?

  • Thanks for replying Cyril.

I kept on testing yesterday and I think it's a problem with a lack of horse power in my sequencing machine.

    Thanks anyway.

    Andy.

  • To get dropouts just from adding an empty instance is harsh; I haven't seen that here. My slave is the MacPro octocore with 24GB but the master is the same as the computer you cite. I would recommend the current build, the one you cited is an oldie.

I'm not clear on why you assume it isn't DP. It could be a problem with your network as well; if you mean by 'empty instance' that nothing is loaded, it seems like the network isn't optimal to me. You can specify the 'MTU' in network preferences as 9000 instead of the default 1500, though I can't guarantee it will change anything.

  • Do you have connect your slave on the second Ethernet port ?

you should monitor both your computers using activity monitor

If you are using the swap it is because you don't have enough memory
