  • VEP 64 Server will not quit.

Hello, I have two 8-core Mac Pros (Snow Leopard) configured as master-slave. The 64 bit VEP Server application (latest build) on my slave will not quit. I just get a spinning beach ball. This happens whether or not I am connected to the master or any network at all. The only way I can get the application to quit is to force quit. Please help.

    HI mohurwitzmusic,

are you using the latest version of VE PRO? In combination with 10.6.4 (just to get the setup right)?

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi, Correct. Thanks. MOH

  • Update: Perhaps I was not letting the application have enough time to quit because after I let it go for around 25 minutes it quit OK. But this seems strange to me because it only takes about 5 minutes to load up all my samples. Is this normal behavior-- that the shut-down takes far longer than the start-up? If so, that's cool, I just want to make sure that something is not wrong. Best, MOH

  • Hi,

if you are working with Logic, it could be that this is simply related to how Logic works - it leaves all connections to the last used interfaces open until you open a new song.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi, Thanks for the reply. No I am using DP 7.2 and I have "decoupled" all my instances of VEP. When I quit DP I don't click "disconnect". Is that it? My precise specs are Master CPU: Mac Pro 8 Core, Snow Leopard, 10G RAM, Apogee Duet, DP 7.2 Slave CPU: Mac Pro 8 Core, 20 G RAM, Snow Leopard, Kontakt 4, Play 2 (EWQLSO), Trilian, Drum Core

  • Hi again It seems this may be a symptom of Kontakt. Apparently Kontakt takes ages to unload samples, even though load times are fairly quick. MOH

  • Yes, that is the case. NI has promised to work on this.
