  • Vienna Instruments Software Update Questions

Hello, 1) I installed Vienna Instruments on my Mac in May of 2010. I can not remember if I upgraded to the latest software version or not. How do I find out which version/build number is installed? 2) In the event that I did not upgrade the software, I am a confused regarding the following statement in the downloads section: "OS X: Please note that Vienna Instruments 2.1 is not compatible with versions older than 2.0 build 4017. If you are upgrading from an older version, please open and save your songs with Vienna Instruments 2.0 build 4017 first, available in the Archive below. Then upgrade to the latest Vienna Instruments Software." Assuming I have an older version, does this mean I have to first install VI 2.0 build 4017, open and save all the projects that used VI, and then install VI 2.1 build 5740 (the latest version)? Thank you. *Apologize for the sentence spacing. Not sure why the spacing between sentences is not showing up in the post.

  • Thank you Paul.

However I discovered the reason why I could not recall if I upgraded to the latest software. I now believe I did upgrade to Vienna Instruments 2.0 build 4017. But there is a discrepency...

When I use VI through Vienna Ensemble in Digital Performer, displayed on the "Preset" page is: Vienna Instruments 2.0 build 4017, Aug 27 2009 03:25

But when I use VI as a plugin in DP, or open up the standalone, displayed on the "Preset" page is: Vienna Instruments 2.0 build 3238, Aug 11 2008 14:52

How do I fix this problem (if it is a problem)? Why didn't the plugin/standalone recognize the upgrade?

I did move the folder with the VI samples (.dat files) to a different destination at one point. Not sure if this contributed to the problem, as I did rescan using the directory manager.

    Thanks!

    Hello starkyfubbs,

Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Instruments are 2 separate applications. Please install the latest version of both.

Regarding Directory Manager: "Rescan" only scans the folders that are assigned. It doesn´t scan all your harddrives. So if you moved your sample content, please remove all folders and add them again by drag and drop from your Finder.

Here is a video about "How to use the Directory Manager".

    Best,

    Paul
