Hello
Has anybody experienced making a Firewire connection between master and slave ?
Is VE Pro able to work with a FW network ?
Is FireWire 800 a good idea v.s. an Ethernet network

This does work, but frankly not worth the bother. I tried it out of curiosity, but there were issues with stability and recall of settings after reboot, also the machine would freeze if unplugged, so not hot pluggable. Also unlike Ethernet, you could not share devices on the one port. Given the amount of development that has gone on with VE Pro since then however, it may be worth another look.
Ethernet works so well, I would find it hard to see any justification for moving to FIrewire.
Today I have a NAS server that is not much used.
I was thinking to sell it an get a Mac mini server so I can transfer the NAS services and use it as a VEP server !
So the VEP would use the Firewire and the other services will use the Ethernet
